Ice cream man

This painting went through a lot of transformations. My intention was to paint Tom Waits on unstretched canvas to put behind another painting that I had cut up with a box cutter. Tom was going to be peeking through the shredded painting. I tried it out and I didn’t like it. I thought it covered Tom up too much and it took away from the portrait. So, I cropped it, stretched it and added an ice cream cone in place of the microphone. When I did this I was not even thinking of the song “Ice Cream Man.” It just ended up being a super cool coincidence. I was thinking about doing a whole collection of musician portraits with the rock stars singing into ice cream cones. I want to have the melted ice cream dripping out of the paintings on to the frames, like a sticky mess. I have a bunch of ideas for the other paintings that will be in this collection. I can see them all in my minds eye and I can’t wait until they come to life.

Stained Glass

These are four separate stained glass panels (9”x 12”) that I did at the Goggleworks studio in Reading Pennsylvania. I did my first stained glass piece in 2011 in a private studio. It was a tree and I loved it so much. One day a big gust of wind blew in my window and it knocked my tree to the ground. It broke and so did my heart. I gave up on glass until 2019, when my sister wanted to make a stained glass panel. She asked me if I would do it with her. I found it so therapeutic to be making art out of glass again. I ended up making seven pieces in just a few months time. One day I would like to be able to have a glass studio of my own to work in. Working with glass is worth all of the boo-boos.

J & J

This large stained glass panel was inspired by my wedding ring tattoo. It is two J’s linked together that stands for Jay and Jolene.

Delusion

The interesting part of the piece is the frame but it is not shown in this image. The frame has cigarette butts glued to it with fake flowers protruding out of the butts like a beautiful flower garden. I go on smoking binges and I am also someone who knows better. I am a nurse and I have watched people die from smoking. So why do I smoke? I must be delusional.
